Google is finally adding a key feature to its Keep note-taking app that many users have been crying out for.
Pixel smartphone owners will know all about Google’s slick stock note-taking app, called Keep. Personally, it’s one of the first apps I download whenever I set-up a new phone for review.
While Keep is way more intuitive and easy on the eye than most manufacturer efforts (which annoyingly take the place of Keep on most Android phones), it’s not always the quickest at adopting needed new features. It’s missing a number of advanced features, though Google seems to be gradually ticking those off.
One of those very advanced features is seemingly about to be added.

Keep your in-note search to yourself
Android Authority has discovered evidence that an in-note search function is set to be added to Keep.
Digging through the code of the latest version of Google Keep (version 5.25.282.00.90 if you’re wondering), the website discovered that a new ‘Find in note’ feature had been buried.
After some apparent tinkering, the website managed to surface the feature in the app. At this point, hitting the three-dot or ‘More’ button in any note caused ‘Find in note’ to appear as a new option right above ‘Delete’.
It’s evidently early days for this feature. The ability to search within notes isn’t remotely functional yet, and tapping the option currently prompts the app to crash.
But the mere presence of this placeholder text tells us that Google is in the process of building and testing the ability to search for specific terms within notes – something that’s been heavily requested by Keep users for some time.
As the website notes, being able to do this is a staple part of many other popular note apps, including Samsung’s and Apple’s. It’s a case of better late than never for Google’s otherwise hugely appealing note app.
