'Good Good Food' healthy eating campaign launches in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A campaign to get Americans eating healthier came to Indianapolis Wednesday.

“Good Good Food” launched on Monument Circle, partnering with the Partnership for a Healthier America to double the amount of produce we eat in 15 cities over the next five years. Other cities included in the campaign include Denver, Chicago, Washington, Baltimore and Wichita, Kansas.

Wednesday’s launch in Indianapolis included local chefs, food trucks, live cooking demonstrations and educational tents to learn about making healthy choices.

“Nine out of 10 people don’t get the daily recommended amount of fruits and vegetables across the board. And we know that a lot of families, especially in neighborhoods right here in Indianapolis, they don’t have access to produce, in all of its forms — fresh, frozen, canned, whatever,” said Jason Wilson with Partnership for a Healthier America. “So what we’re trying to do is encourage people and trying to drive people to eat more fruits and vegetables.”

The PHA said 12% of the population in Marion County have low incomes and don’t live close to a grocery store. Since bringing its “Good Food at Home” program to Indianapolis in 2021, PHA says it has helped provide more than two million servings of fresh fruits and vegetables to the community.
