Flames engulf 2 Cleveland homes early Friday

CLEVELAND (WJW) — An early Friday house fire in Cleveland completely destroyed one home and spread to another.

The fire broke out about 7:15 a.m. in the 1400 block of East 114th Street, officials told FOX 8’s Jessica Dill.

No one was injured.

FOX 8’s Patty Harken, who was in SkyFOX surveying the scene, reported the flames were “dangerously close” to a fourplex located on the other side of the initial burning home.

That house suffered significant damage to one side. The owner said whatever the firefighters are being paid is “worth it.”

“They did a great job as far as I’m concerned. That house went up so fast. I’m just glad nobody was hurt,” said Carmen Marshall.

Marshall told FOX 8 News he was leaving for work when he spotted the smoke and flames. He went back inside and woke his son up so the home could be evacuated.

It’s not clear what caused the fire.
