Fire in the sky came from China | News

China is believed responsible for the fire in the sky seen by many Tennesseans over the weekend.

Pictures and video of a fire ball racing across the night sky were captured by people across the mid-south, leading to speculation of what caused the celestial event. At first, it was thought to be a meteor; however, it has been revealed what caught so many eyes was actually Chinese space debris.

The Chinese Commercial Imagining Satellite GaoJing 1-02 operated by Beijing-based Spaceview, broke apart on reentry at 10:08 p.m. above New Orleans. The reentry was scheduled for the satellite that was launched in December of 2016.
