ST. LOUIS—Eight hundred people gathered in the Graham Chapel at Washington University for the Saint Louis Fashion Fund’s annual Speaker of Fashion.
This year’s event featured a Q and A with globally acclaimed fashion designer Carolina Herrera Creative Director Wes Gordon. Michael Kors, Diane von Furstenberg and the late André Leon Talley were special speakers in previous years.
Gordon’s thoughtful narrative about his career journey inspired the room.
He also shared advice for fashion students, emerging brands and creatives. Karlie Kloss, a St. Louis native Supermodel and Super Entrepreneur, also made a special appearance.
Earlier in the day, Gordon and Missouri fashion students from across the state enjoyed a luncheon together where he met with each student and provided one-on-one reviews of their respective collections.
During the Speaker of Fashion event Gordon was presented with a proclamation by St. Louis mayor Cara Spencer officially proclaiming November 18 “Wes Gordon Day in St. Louis.” Saint Louis Fashion Fund Executive Director, Becky Domyan, presented Wes Gordon with Fashion Fund’s highest recognition: the Saint Louis Fashion Fund Award for his major contributions to fashion.
