An eye doctor at a Hong Kong public hospital has sustained multiple injuries in an alleged attack by a companion of a patient.
The doctor, 45, from the department of ophthalmology at Pok Oi Hospital in Yuen Long was allegedly attacked during a consultation, sustaining injuries to the ear, head and neck, authorities said on Monday.
Police arrested a male companion of the patient at the hospital later. He was accused of striking the doctor with his fists.
A police source said the suspect had accompanied his wife for a medical check-up during which an argument occurred between he and the doctor regarding the latter’s attitude and the long waiting time.
In the midst of the argument, the suspect allegedly struck the doctor several times on the head and back with his bare hands.
