Exclusive | Hong Kong’s John Lee is set to deliver his third policy address, how will it differ from first 2?

Hong Kong’s leader is expected to roll out measures to amplify the city’s status as an international financial, trade and maritime centre in his third policy address on Wednesday, the Post has learned.
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu would also announce plans to diversify the economy through innovation and new industries such as life sciences while rejuvenating local sectors including the fashion trade, various sources said.
Lee’s third policy blueprint, expanding from national security and post-pandemic measures covered in the previous two addresses, would focus on macroeconomic developments, one source said.

He would seek to lift the economy by solidifying Hong Kong’s strengths under the “one country, two systems” governing principle, in particular developing the three major centres and a talent hub specified in the nation’s new economic road map.

“It will be a key theme of the policy address,” the source said.

Lee wrote on social media on Saturday that the cover of this year’s policy speech would be green, while expressing hope the city would thrive.
