The event is meant to unite the local community and offer hope and support to Texans through fashion and compassion.
SAN ANTONIO — As communities across our state are uniting in the wake of the devastating flash floods in the Texas Hill Country, Eva’s Heroes provides a vital space for connection and support. Their annual “Lights Camera Fashion show” took place Friday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. The event celebrated the unique talents and confidence of the organization’s heroes but also raised crucial funds for an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with special needs.
The Lights Camera Fashion Show and Luncheon is the culmination of Lights Camera Fashion Week, a five-day program for Eva’s Heroes participants who learn from fashion pros how to “strike a pose” on the catwalk! Together they took part in an exciting week of building confidence and individual style, culminating in a heartwarming and fun fashion show for Eva’s Heroes family and friends.
Heroes learned skin care, makeup, nail care and hair styling from cosmetology students from the Milan Institute; shopping, wardrobe building and accessorizing is provided by the team at Dillard’s North Star Mall; interactive DJ lessons by the AM Project; runway lessons from models at The Agency; and the dedicated and beloved leadership of San Antonio’s own Mr. Fiesta, Michael Quintanilla!
Eva’s Heroes is built on four tenets:
- Interact – Teamwork promoted in a supportive environment fosters joy, builds self-esteem and encourages productivity.
- Grow – Inspiring individuals to set and pursue stretch goals, promotes responsibility and successful decision-making.
- Learn – Embracing new experiences and mastering challenges translates into contributions to the world around us.
- Love – Everyone can succeed with heartfelt guidance, support and encouragement from family, friends, mentors and teachers.
