Enthusiasts flock to UK's largest tractor festival

Enthusiasts descended on the UK’s largest tractor festival in North Yorkshire at the weekend (June 7 and 8).

Tractor Fest, the annual celebration of tractors and machinery, pulled in a bumper crowd in the grounds of Newby Hall and Gardens, near Ripon, North Yorkshire.

Boasting about 2,500 exhibits as well as demonstrations, the popular show, which was held on Saturday and Sunday, is going from strength to strength.

It was organised by Yorkshire Vintage Association (YVA) whose chairman Kevin Watson said it had been another ‘fantastic’ event.

Highlights of this year’s show celebrated the centenaries of Caterpillar and rare German tractor marque, Kramer, as well as the 80th anniversary of the post-war Fordson E27N, with a line-up of 80 of the tractors.

Tractor Fest returned to Newby Hall and Gardens near Ripon, North Yorkshire, drawing thousands of visitors on June 7 and 8. (Image: Newby Hall) Caterpillar was the first crawler tractor which transformed farming on heavy land and inspired the development of the tank.

There were also displays of vintage American cars and ERF trucks, demonstrations of vintage cultivation and working equipment – loggers, bailers, as well as displays from specialist marque clubs.

Fun family activities over the weekend included mini tractor driving, face painting, colouring and interactive exhibits. There are also trade stands, crafts and a choice of street food.

The event was supported by sponsors, Cheffins, Econ Engineering and Brockhills of Yorkshire.
