Eltham Met Police officer's sexual interest in babies

Grant Long, 34, of Castlewood Drive in Eltham, was given a suspended sentence last month after he was snared by an undercover officer who was posing as a paedophile offering stepdaughter out for sex.

Long told “Jason” his interest was in children over five but he had “enjoyed from new-born previously”, a misconduct hearing was told.

He also disclosed that he had engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl when he was aged 19.

During these conversations he discussed arrangements to meet “Jason” and his stepdaughter to engage in sexual activities with her.

Long, who was attached to the Met’s Central West Command Unit which was mired in scandal after a recent BBC Panorama investigation, was arrested whilst on duty in January.

He later pleaded guilty to one count of intentionally encouraging/assisting in the sexual assault of a child by penetration and three counts of distributing an indecent image of a child.

At Snaresbrook Crown Court on October 24 he was sentenced to two years in custody suspended for two years.

A Met Police spokesperson said Long was immediately suspended from duty after his arrest in January.

He was then dismissed following an accelerated misconduct hearing later that same month.
