Given that Elon Musk is not only the richest man in the world but now a major force behind the most powerful world leader, I do feel the need to keep up with his gaming habits, however he finds the time.
After somehow managing to become one of the top Diablo 4 players in the world, Elon has moved on to the Diablo-adjacent Path of Exile 2, which has just been released in early access. He just posted that he was actually kicked out of the game for performing too many actions too quickly, though he claims this was not because he was using some sort of macro that might trigger that:
He goes on to say that the penalty is too severe and that he thinks that the trigger will be patched at some point:
“The penalty for too many clicks/sec is you get executed immediately! I think this will get patched.”
This not a permanent ban or anything, it’s just a time-out, so expect a lot more Path of Exile 2 play from Elon. In another tweet, he said he believes that the game is a “hall-of-famer.”
The question remains about how a man running this many companies with now a new role supposedly cutting hundreds of billions out of the national budget has time to grind out games like Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2. Many accused Musk of having someone play on his D4 account or buying items to ensure he had a top spot in that game, but that was never proven. It remains to be seen if he will be able to ascend the Path of Exile leaderboards.
All of this comes in the wake of Elon Musk saying that he will start a game studio that uses xAI to make games in order to “make video games great again,” but clearly he enjoys a bunch of current games on the market. Before this, he was very into Cyberpunk 2077, a game in which the mother of his child, Grimes, plays a somewhat significant NPC, and Elden Ring, where his…unusual build went viral.
I would not want to be on his team for Elden Ring Nightreign, that’s for sure. But it seems ARPGs are more his speed.
What will happen next in the saga of Elon’s gaming habits? Top ranked League of Legends player? Astro Bot speed run record-holder? The sky’s the limit!
