Disney+ to increase price of annual ad-free plan in the UK

The popular streaming platform offers a wide range of TV shows and movies, and is home to content from the likes of Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and more.

Currently, Disney+ subscribers in the UK pay £89.99 a year for the annual ‘Standard’ ad-free plan.

But on Tuesday, this will increase by £10 to £99.99, according to Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert (MSE).

Disney is yet to reveal whether prices on its other UK plans will change, but we have contacted the company for further comment.

For those hoping to avoid the £10 increase on the Disney+ annual ‘Standard’ ad-free plan, you’re in luck.

If you are new to the streaming platform, you can sign up at the lower price of £89.99 a year, until 11.59pm on Monday (September 29), MSE explained.

What is the cheapest streaming platform in the UK?

If you are considering moving away from Disney+ to a cheaper streaming platform, here is what you’ll be paying for the standard ad-free plan:

  • Apple TV+: £9.99 per month
  • Netflix: £12.99 per month
  • Paramount+: £7.99 per month
  • NOW (entertainment or cinema plan): £9.99 per month (extra £6 a month for ad-free)
  • Prime Video (Amazon): £5.99 per month (extra £2.99 a month for ad-free)
  • Disney+: £8.99 per month
