On July 3, Christian Dior Couture and UNESCO convened the fifth edition of their joint initiative, the Women@Dior and UNESCO Global Conference, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
The conference addressed pressing global challenges, focusing on the professional future of younger generations, equitable access to education, and the development of female role models.
On stage, selected Mentees who are emerging female leaders from around the world embodied Dior’s values of excellence, generosity, openness, and sharing. Mentors from the LVMH Group, Dior, and UNESCO, along with prominent figures from the fields of business, the arts, and sports, also took the stage and engaged in lively discussions on women’s empowerment from diverse perspectives.
Launched in 2017, Women@Dior is a global mentoring and educational program that has supported more than 2,500 women from 140 nationalities to date.
The program is open to university students and young professionals studying in diverse fields such as business, fashion, engineering, hospitality, international relations, and communications. Participants benefit from personalized mentoring by Dior employees, in addition to access to online courses and lectures. Through this comprehensive structure, they explore global issues such as gender equality, women’s leadership, and the pursuit of a more sustainable society.
At the core of the program lie five key values:
- Self-care & Self-awareness: Fostering inner growth and confidence through self-understanding
- Autonomy: Reclaiming one’s freedom and responsibility
- Creativity: Applying innovative thinking to shape a sustainable future
- Inclusion: Transforming diversity into creative and socially responsible action
- Sustainable Development: Building future societies on the foundation of education and culture
Upon completing the program, Mentees take on a final challenge known as the Dream for Change project. In this initiative, they apply what they’ve learned by developing and implementing community-based ideas to support and empower women in their local contexts. It represents one of the program’s most impactful and hands-on components, bridging knowledge with action to drive real-world change.
In 2020, Dior joined UNESCO’s Global Education Coalition on World Youth Skills Day and offered the Women@Dior program free of charge to over 200 young women from Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Jamaica, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. Through such initiatives, Dior demonstrates its dedication to closing the global education gap and ensuring that young women, particularly those in vulnerable environments, have access to meaningful learning opportunities.
