Oh Polly is driving conversions and higher purchase values by enhancing its search functionality with artificial intelligence capabilities.

The U.K.-based online retailer of women’s fashion items is leveraging the AI-native Algolia search platform to create an optimal search experience for its global customer base. The company has deployed the solution on its search bar, as well as on its Tapcart Shopify e-commerce app through a custom screen.

A dynamic re-ranking feature transforms Oh Polly’s search results by automatically enhancing relevancy without the need for manual intervention. 

In addition, search sessions now drive 20% of revenue for the company since it has implemented the Algolia search platform. Oh Polly shoppers using Algolia’s AI-powered search convert at 3.5x the rate of non-users, with an average purchase value 172% higher and a bounce rate that is 144% lower than that of customers not utilizing AI-based search. 

Other positive metrics stemming from the retailer’s upgrade of its search experience include search usage increasing by 30 to 40%, a 5% increase in click-through-rates, and a 7.1% increase in revenue.
