Davis attends UK global defense summit

Rep. Don Davis

Rep. Don Davis, D-Snow Hill, recently participated in a panel discussion while attending the 2025 London Defence Conference at King’s College.

The scope of work, titled “Facing China, Russia, Iran and North Korea,” or CRINK, focused on emerging threats to the post-World War II global order and the strengthening alliance between CRINK nations.

“The importance of these discussions is growing as we face emerging global threats. Our shared defense remains essential for safeguarding democracies around the world,” Davis said. “As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day, we are reminded of the enduring value of our allies. We must maintain unity in addressing threats posed by countries such as China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and other global extremists.”

Former heads of state, members of the U.S. Congress, members of the British Parliament and non-government foreign policy experts contributed to the session, which emphasized the importance of reinforcing alliances such as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Specific topics included Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, belligerence from the People’s Republic of China in the Indo-Pacific and Iran’s malign actions in the Gulf. Panelists discussed best practices for uniting the free world while ensuring internal political divisions do not divide the West against common foes.
