2nd March 2025 – (Hong Kong) Taiwanese music star David Tao launched his two-night concert series at the Coliseum in Hong Kong last night, drawing an enthusiastic crowd eager to see the renowned artist. However, the performance faced an unexpected interruption when the venue experienced a power outage around 10.15pm, prompting audience members to express their disbelief on social media.

Despite the setback, Tao’s performance remained unaffected. The concert took on a poignant tone following the announcement of the passing of fellow music icon Khalil Fong, affectionately known as “Hong Kong’s David Tao.” In a heartfelt tribute, Tao adapted Fong’s popular song “Love Love Love,” changing the final lyrics to “You will always be here.”

Before performing the tribute, a visibly emotional Tao reflected on the fragility of life, stating, “Like shifting sands, life cannot be held onto. Today, we learned that an outstanding musician, Khalil Fong, has left us. We will miss you forever.” He acknowledged the strength and warmth Fong’s music had brought to his own life, inviting the audience to join him in honouring their shared friend.

The concert hall was filled to capacity, with fans eagerly engaging with Tao as he sang his greatest hits. The atmosphere was electric, with Tao frequently interacting with the audience, shaking hands and sharing moments of joy. He frequently acknowledged the crowd by exclaiming “Hong Kong,” further endearing himself to the fans.

Towards the end of the show, Tao surprised attendees with an unannounced preview of a new single, eliciting gasps and cheers throughout the venue. The concert not only attracted devoted fans but also notable figures from the industry, including celebrities such as Sylvia Chang and William So, who came out to support him. The series will continue tonight with the second performance in Hong Kong.
