A town council has its first Reform UK councillor after the party’s candidate won a by-election by 24 votes.
Justin Bellhouse will sit on Bracknell Town Council as the new representative for Harmans Water following Thursday’s election, which was triggered by former councillor Cherise Welch’s resignation.
Mr Bellhouse won 302 votes, edging out Labour’s Chloe McDougall, who won 278 votes. Chris Turrell, a Conservative and former executive member on Bracknell Forest Council, won 234 votes and Jason Reardon, the Heritage Party’s candidate, came fourth with 20 votes.
Reform UK Bracknell said on its Facebook page that it was “absolutely delighted” with Mr Bellhouse’s victory.
