Christmas at Wimpole Estate will have UK-first illuminations

Running from November 21 to January 3, the after-dark illuminated trail will once again transform the National Trust Wimpole Estate into a dazzling display of twinkling lights and festive magic.

This year, visitors can walk through the longest Christmas Cathedral in the Sony Christmas Trails series – 48 metres of glittering light – as part of a route filled with new installations and returning favourites.

UK premieres include Leaf on the Light by Pyrite Creative, featuring 18 glowing neon leaves suspended overhead.

The trail also features a host of newly-revealed creations, including five walk-through gingerbread figures over 2.5 metres tall, 10 almost two-metre-tall lanterns by Filament Creative Studios casting intricate patterns shadows across the path, and a striking oversized present hanging with ribbons.

Italian artist Cristina Ottonello’s Robins Trail installation shimmers in sequins, while 40 colour-changing Edison bulbs add a warm festive glow.

A shooting star drops dramatically from three metres high at the trail entrance, setting the tone for an evening of enchantment.

Other highlights include a field of 50 colour-changing crocuses, seven haze arches, the much-loved Bubble Walk for younger visitors, the ‘Sea of Light’ and the ‘house show’.

Seasonal food and drink, including mulled wine and hot chocolate, will also be on sale.

Christmas at Wimpole is presented by Sony Music in partnership with the National Trust.  The trail is created by Culture Creative.

Adult tickets cost £16 (off-peak) or £25 (peak). Child tickets are £12 (off-peak) and £18.50 (peak).
