Chinese Beverage Giant Dayao Targets $500 Million Hong Kong IPO - News and Statistics

Chinese beverage company Dayao is preparing for a major financial move with its intent to launch an initial public offering (IPO) in Hong Kong by the second half of 2025, according to a report from Bloomberg. The Inner Mongolia-based company aims to raise as much as $500 million, building on the resurgence in new listings in the city.

Founded in the 1980s, Dayao produces a range of beverages, including carbonated drinks, juices, and protein drinks, and operates seven major production bases within China. The company also exports its products to markets such as Russia and Southeast Asia. In relation to China’s bustling soft drink sector, the export value for soft drinks in 2024 was reported at $471.4 million, marking an increase from $414.3 million in 2023, according to data from the IndexBox platform. Hong Kong SAR, one of Dayao’s targeted export markets, accounted for $174.7 million in 2024, up from $168.7 million the previous year.

Meanwhile, the import landscape also shows significant figures, with the import value of soft drinks at $946.1 million in 2024, an increase from $873.5 million in 2023. The leading import partner was South Korea, with a value of $279.7 million in 2024.

The IPO landscape looks promising for Hong Kong, as it raised over $11 billion in 2024, nearly doubling the figures from the year before. Furthermore, several other Chinese companies, like the battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. and the bubble tea franchise Mixue Group, are also eyeing potential listings in the Hong Kong market.
