Following the collapse of the Syrian government in Damascus, the Chinese government issued a statement hoping that stability in Syria will be restored as soon as possible while ensuring the safety of Chinese institutions and personnel in Syria. The statement said that the Chinese government has “actively assisted” Chinese citizens who are willing to leave Syria safely and has maintained contact with Chinese citizens who remain in Syria to “provide security guidance.”
