In a groundbreaking move, Huawei, in collaboration with China Unicom, has introduced the nation’s first 10G standard broadband network in Xiong’an New Area, Hebei Province. This region, positioned near Beijing, is quickly establishing itself as a major center for technological innovation.
According to Mydrivers, real-world tests revealed astonishing internet speeds. Download speeds peaked at 9834 Mbps, while uploads hit 1008 Mbps. This marks a significant leap from the usual gigabit-level connections offered to households today.
The network is built on the world’s inaugural 50G PON (Passive Optical Network) technology. This breakthrough dramatically enhances the capacity of fiber-optic access infrastructure, taking individual bandwidth from standard gigabit levels to true 10G performance. It also slashes latency to just milliseconds, paving the way for seamless real-time applications.
With such blazing speeds, the network promises smoother experiences in bandwidth-heavy technologies such as 8K streaming, cloud computing, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR). These advancements are expected to significantly improve user experience and unlock fresh possibilities in entertainment, education, and industry.
Meanwhile, China continues its global lead in next-gen network deployment. By January 2025, the country had already installed 4.25 million 5G base stations — the highest count worldwide.
Adding to these achievements, Chang Guang Satellite Technology recently set a new benchmark in satellite data transfer by reaching 100 Gbps through laser communication from space to Earth — ten times faster than previous records and outperforming even Starlink’s systems.
