China said Wednesday its army test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile into a designated area on the high seas in the Pacific earlier in the day.
The People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force launched the ICBM carrying a dummy warhead at 8:44 a.m., China’s defense ministry said in a statement.
It said the test, part of the army’s annual training plan, was not directed against any country and was in line with international law.
The official Xinhua News Agency reported the launch successfully tested weaponry performance and military training effectiveness, citing the ministry.
