China implements trade war tariff of 75.8% on Canadian Canola

Toronto Sun

Conservative MP Michelle Rempel responds to a question on a 75.8% Chinese tariffs affecting Canadian canola farmers. China claimed on Tuesday anti-dumping by Canada as part of a trade dispute, but in reality it is a response to Canada’s 100% tariff placed on Chinese electric vehicles entering the country in August 2024 as a form of protectionism to the domestic auto industry. Canada exports $5 billion per year in oilseed crops to China. The electric vehicle tariff was imposed by former PM Justin Trudeau.
