Revenge is on the minds of Barcelona players as Matchday 2 of the Champions League wraps up Wednesday with their matchup with reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.

It was PSG who knocked Barcelona out of the quarterfinals two seasons ago with a 4-1 victory in the second leg to advance on aggregate 6-4. That defeat has not been forgotten.

“The quarter-final exit against PSG? I think all of us as Barcelona fans felt there was a moment when we were just one step away from qualifying,” Barça’s star midfielder Pedri said Tuesday. “It was a tough match, and we want to give it a tone of revenge. Next year you can try again in the Champions League for what you may lose or leave behind. Obviously, everyone wants to play these kinds of matches, especially against one of the best teams in the world — they’re the ones you enjoy the most.”

Both teams won their opening match and are looking to improve to 2-0 on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Arsenal will look to extend their unbeaten September run into October with a matchup against Olympiakos. The Gunners won their first Champions League game against Athletic Bilbao and went 2-0-1 in Premier League play last month, while also advancing to the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Like Arsenal, Manchester City have not lost since August as they get set to meet French side Monaco. The Citizens blanked Napoli 2-0 in their opening Champions League match and will look to join the group of 2-0 clubs after Matchday 2.

Newcastle, meanwhile, had an up-and-down September with a 2-2-1 record in all competitions. They lost to Barcelona on Matchday 1 and are coming off a 2-1 Premier League defeat to Arsenal. Union Saint-Gilloise, who made noise with a 3-1 defeat of PSV, will be Newcastle’s opponent Wednesday.

Other games on the schedule include Borussia Dortmund versus Athletic Bilbao, Napoli facing Sporting Lisbon, Bayer Leverkusen against PSV, Villarreal meeting Juventus, and Qarabag playing Copenhagen.
