The Drive Fore Kids tournament raises money for local nonprofits, including the Dempsey Center and Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
FALMOUTH, Maine — The green at the Falmouth Country Club will again see a star-studded makeover this summer as celebrities gear up for the third annual Drive Fore Kids golf tournament.
With former pro athletes and familiar faces from hit TV shows joining in, Executive Director Brian Corcoran said third time’s a charm.
“We’ve got a little bit for everybody,” Corcoran said. “Going into our third year, we’ve almost figured it out; how to really throw one heck of a party while driving a lot of impact along the way.”
The tournament isn’t just about selfies and swinging clubs. At its heart is a mission to support local health nonprofits, including the Dempsey Center, which provides free support to people impacted by cancer, and MaineHealth’s Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
“We treat the person, not the disease,” Heather Plati of the Dempsey Center said, echoing founder Patrick Dempsey’s vision.
Over two dozen new and returning celebrities will be teeing up to compete for a $265,000 prize purse and help raise funds for the tournament’s beneficiaries. This year includes names like former Boston Red Sox player Jon Lester and comedian and actor Brian Baumgartner from the hit TV show “The Office.”

Former Major League Soccer star Taylor Twellman is one of several returning celebrities who can’t seem to stay away. “A lot of us don’t ever have to think twice about coming to play golf and giving back,” he said, reflecting on the tight-knit, passionate Maine community that keeps him coming back.
A new Putt-Putt Fore Kids event to help raise funds for beneficiaries is also planned for May 17th at Thompson’s Point in Portland.
Drive Fore Kids will be held June 19-22 at the Falmouth Country Club.
