Nicolas Ghesquière dressed ambassadors and friends of the house in Louis Vuitton for the 2025 Academy Museum Gala on Saturday evening in LA.
Ambassador-In-Waiting?
Chase Infiniti delivered my favourite Louis Vuitton look of the evening, mostly because of the unique effect of this silk taffeta–dyed green bustier gown with overstitched pleating. The sculpted bodice struck the perfect balance between structure and softness. It’s the kind of gown that defines a rising fashion star — elegant, directional, and quietly commanding. Is she an ambassador-in-waiting? It certainly feels like it.

Regal & radiant
Ava DuVernay continues to serve extraordinary red carpet moments in Louis Vuitton. This time in a scrumptious black velvet off-the-shoulder column gown. The sculpted red satin neckline gave the look a futuristic feel, creating a powerful contrast against the rich texture of the velvet. Another commanding moment for Ava and Nicolas Ghesquière.

Retro intentions
I would have liked Renate Reinsve’s Louis Vuitton look more without the exaggerated collar and placket, which disrupted the otherwise sleek lines of her gown. The silver and black contrast was modern and moody, but the collar and placket tried too hard to set it back a few decades. Louis Vuitton Fine Jewelry completed her look.

Quiet luxury
Este Haim wore a Louis Vuitton black compact crêpe jersey gown with a paneled car-wash skirt that added movement to the body-conscious silhouette. Styled with black leather pumps, diamond stud earrings, and a white gold and diamond ear cuff from the Louis Vuitton Fine Jewelry collection, this look was sleek and sophisticated — though some might say a little muted for Louis Vuitton.
Lace hit the right note — silver hit the wrong key
Alana Haim’s Louis Vuitton column gown featured a beautiful black embroidered lace overlay, but I wish the silver base had been black instead. The silver underlay made the design feel a touch dated — like she had pulled it from the archives. LV Diamonds Fine Jewelry earrings completed her look.
Rock ‘n’ roll refinement
Danielle Haim wore a black leather Louis Vuitton gown adorned with silver stones and crystal glass tube embroidery, paired with black satin pumps. Her look was completed with pieces from the Louis Vuitton Fine Jewelry collection, offering an edgy yet elegant take on evening glamour.

We Didn’t See This Coming
Surprisingly refined and refreshingly drama-free, Jaden Smith opted for a Louis Vuitton double-breasted tuxedo paired with an LV Night Lavaliere shirt, black LV Beaubourg loafers, and a white LV Petite Malle clutch. It’s one of his most polished and mature appearances to date.

Timeless
Jeremy Allen White kept things classic in a Louis Vuitton tuxedo styled with an LV yellow gold Tambour watch. Simple, sharp, and refreshingly unfussy despite the cowboy collar tips.

Wrong Hue
Odessa Young wore a Louis Vuitton strapless pinky sand silk satin gown in a hue that washed her out and didn’t do her complexion any favours. Pieces from the Louis Vuitton Fine Jewelry collection completed her look.
