Burghley House, in Stamford, on the edge of Peterborough, has made The Times‘ list of the top 25 big houses in the country for Christmas and New Year.
In a glowing profile, The Times said: “Not everyone has the chance to take their festive walks in parkland designed by Lancelot “Capability” Brown, but at this ten-bedroom property you only have to step outside to find yourself in the grounds of the magnificent Burghley House.”
It added: “Better still, the Dairy is split into two wings, making it ideal for housing separate groups while offering plenty of space for everyone to dine together in an impressive double-height kitchen-diner.
“Historic charm in the form of prints and furniture from Burghley House combine with modern comforts and furnishings.
“All the contemporary-style bedrooms have their own bathroom.”
