Bras for a Cause Fashion Show returns to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Blinged-out bras are once again taking the spotlight. The Nevada Cancer Coalitionis hosting the Bras for a Cause breast cancer awareness event again this year.

Many around the community decorated bras creating works of art featured in the lively fashion show and month-long mobile exhibit, all while raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

The bras will be featured in the fashion show modeled by local fraternity brothers. Then the bras will be in a month-long mobile exhibit, all while raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

The event is happening on Wednesday, kicking off at 5:30p.m. at Locomotion Plaza.

Lily Helzer, prevention and early detection program manager of the Nevada Cancer Coalition says this event shines a spotlight on breast cancer awareness. “It’s a very scary disease, but if you find it early, you get that annual mammogram, you find it really small, it is 99% survivable, and there is a great community out here to support you in your survivorship.”

The evening also includes a DJ, vendors, breast cancer screening information, and will conclude with the lighting of the iconic Reno Arch, which will glow pink throughout October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Click here to learn more about Bras for a Cause.
