Bodycare closes in Swindon as UK stores and jobs lost

On Monday, September 22, it was announced that Bodycare would close all of its remaining 56 UK shops by Saturday, September 27.

The Regent Street branch in Swindon town centre has been shut, and signs have been left in the windows notifying customers.

They said: “This store is now closed. The management and staff thank you for your custom.”

The announcement was made by administrators at advisory firm Interpath after the Bodycare brand ran into financial difficulties.

It will result in 444 employees working across the chain’s remaining stores being made redundant, with the final round of closures expected to be completed on Saturday.

Since Bodycare first went into administration, around 150 shops have shut and over 1,000 staff have lost their jobs.

Nick Holloway, managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, said: “We understand this has been a difficult period and so we want to further express our sincere thanks to Bodycare’s staff who, since day one of the administration, have maintained the strong standards of presentation and customer service that Bodycare was renowned for.

“We will continue to explore options for the company’s assets, including the Bodycare brand, and will provide further updates in due course.”
