Blackburn’s Reform UK branch in local election promise

Blackburn's Reform UK branch in local election promise

The event at Pleasington’s Immanuel Hall was attended by 88 people.

The speakers were Daniel Matchett, County Councillor for Whitworth and Bacup and Aron Goldson-Body, the chair for Reform UK West Lancashire.

After Thursday’s meeting the party’s Blackburn chair Tommy Temperley, who came third in last year’s general election with 4,844 votes, set out the branch’s plans for the coming year.

He said: “Reform UK is growing by the day in Blackburn.

“We have now have 492 members.

“Reform UK is now a  political force in the town and we will be putting out candidates in every ward on May 7 2026 and I am sure we will get at least five councillors elected.

“The town is broken with £188million debt and where has this money been spent?

“Our mission is to save our broken town.

“We want to make Blackburn a productive prosperous town not a dumping ground as it is now.

“Once we have elected councilors in wards we can push for a Department of Government Efficiency-style audit and see where our taxpayer’s money has been spent and wasted over the years.”
