(Gray News) – President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak Thursday evening at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute 47th Annual Awards Gala.
The remarks are part of CHCI’s multi-day event with a theme of “Latino Excellence in Action: Innovation, Influence, Representation.”
The purpose of the event is to honor and recognize the country’s most notable Latino leaders as well as uplift the next generation.
This year’s honorees include musicians Los Tigres Del Norte, actress Rosario Dawson, Reps. Tony Cardenas and Grace F. Napolitano, and TV hosts Lili Estefan and Raul De Molina.
Earlier this week, Biden hosted a reception at the White House in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
The Hispanic heritage celebration, which began as a themed week by President Lyndon Johnson, was expanded by President Ronald Reagan and later signed into law in 1988.
