Biden coming to Florida again to tour Hurricane Milton damage

For the second time in two weeks, President Joe Biden is coming to Florida to visit hurricane-ravaged communities.

A Friday news release from the White House said Biden will come Sunday to tour areas affected by Hurricane Milton, which slammed the state as a Category 3 storm Wednesday evening, causing widespread damage and leading to 17 deaths.

The release didn’t provide additional details.

Biden flew into Tallahassee on Oct. 3, before hopping over to Taylor County to see the damage first-hand and meet victims of Hurricane Helene, which whipped through the area on Sept. 26 before barreling into Georgia and the Carolinas, devastating portions of those states as well.

Now, Florida is attempting to recover from two hurricanes. Milton brought more damage to a wider swath of the state, mainly due to the tornadoes it spawned, many of which menaced the state’s east coast, flipping over cars and tearing up entire neighborhoods.

As of noon Friday there were more than 2.34 million customers who remain without electricity in Florida.
