The brass at La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have set their sights on what would be a shock deal for a member of the attacking ranks at arch rivals Real Madrid.
That’s according to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, who point towards Rodrygo as the player in question.
Barcelona are of course fresh off tying up a deal for a new addition to the club’s frontline, with Manchester United frontman Marcus Rashford all set to link up with Hansi Flick’s squad.
With Rashford’s impending arrival coming in the form of a loan, though, the Blaugrana have saved themselves a potentially significant outlay.
And such funds, it would appear, could now be put towards a deal for another big-name attacker.
‘UOL has learned that the Catalan club has contacted intermediaries to inform them of their interest in Rodrygo. There are no ongoing talks yet, but Barcelona have made clear their willingness to open negotiations if Rodrygo decides to leave Real Madrid.’
It of course remains to be seen if those in the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabéu would even be willing to entertain discussions over such a high-profile deal with their Clásico rivals…
