Australian shares were poised to slip as they open on Monday, likely dragged by a potential fall in mining stocks and with investors cautious after U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites raised tensions in the Middle East.

The local share price index futures (YAPcm1) fell 0.2% lower, a 36.5-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index XJO close. The benchmark ended 0.2% lower on Friday.

New Zealand’s benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index NZ50G rose 0.1% to 12,582.82 points in early trade.
