Asda cuts prices of 956 items across UK supermarkets

The supermarket giant is reducing the price of 956 everyday grocery items both in-store and online.

These include key cupboard staples like pasta, cooking sauces, tea and coffee.

Customers will see Yorkshire Tea (240 pack) reduced to just 2p per teabag from £6.32 to £5, Asda Gravy Granules reduced from £1 to 69p and Asda Chicken Tikka Masala (392g) down from £2.40 to £1.57.

Asda is also cutting prices on 49 products in its ‘Free From’ range, with some reducing by up to 15%.

The supermarket says that by reducing these prices, it is ensuring that value is accessible to all customers, regardless of dietary needs.

Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer Officer at Asda, said: “We understand the pressure families are under from rising living costs and we’re stepping up our support as we enter an expensive time of year for our customers.

“We’re cutting prices on the everyday products they rely on the most, helping them bring down their food bills and get even more value every time they shop with us.

“This is real support, where it counts. That’s Asda Price.”

With food price inflation reaching 5% in September, Asda’s latest Income Tracker reveals that lower-income households are facing a weekly shortfall of £74 between their earnings and the cost of essential spending.

The latest price cuts are in addition to the 3452 Rollback deals currently available.

Lidl has also announced a £250m investment in cutting prices of everyday items, helping shoppers save even more in the run-up to Christmas.

Richard Bourns, Chief Commercial Officer at Lidl GB, said: “We’re committed to providing our customers with the best value every single day, and our teams work tirelessly throughout the year to deliver this for them.

“We also firmly believe that everyone should have access to healthy affordable food, which is why we ensure that we’re offering the lowest prices in the market and it’s why we’re on a mission to bring new Lidl stores to more communities across the country.”
