Dallas’ retail scene is getting yet another European designer brand storefront that’s hard to find elsewhere.
Highland Park Village will add Italy’s La DoubleJ brand with a shop in the fall, according to a statement from the shopping hub. It’s just the second location in the U.S. for the company, with the other in Florida. Overall, the brand has four stores, including its flagship in Milan.
“The authentic warmth and generous spirit of the people in Texas (just like that of the Italians) makes opening this store such a natural fit for a brand like us,” said J.J. Martin, La DoubleJ founder, in the statement. “I really cannot wait to be there in person!”
Dallas has continued to attract new and long-standing names in fashion as the region expands its population and economic reach. Last month, New York-based women’s clothing brand TWP opened its doors with a pop-up at Highland Park Village, and another Italian luxury fashion brand, Miu Miu, is slated to open this fall.
Martin is a native of Southern California who landed in Milan in 2001 as a journalist, while educating her eye and forging friendships with the city’s network of creatives, according to the company’s website.
La DoubleJ, started roughly a decade ago, offers a range of clothing options such as dresses, outerwear and swimwear, along with accessories including jewelry and hats. There’s also a focus on home-related items with offerings that cover plates, napkins and vases, among other choices.
“Highland Park Village could not be more thrilled for La DoubleJ,” said Stephen Summers of Highland Park Village in a statement. “The brand is such an exciting and unique addition to the center, showcasing eye-catching, cool prints, vibrant colors, and eccentric design in its ready-to-wear collections.”
The company had eyed California’s Pacific Palisades earlier this year before wildfires upended those plans.
