American content creators Jeremy and Cara have ranked the top 10 destinations in the UK that they think people should visit this year and they put Yorkshire at number one

American tourists have ranked the best places they have visited in the UK – and they said absolutely nowhere compared to Yorkshire.

Jeremy and Cara, from The Magic Geekdom channel, shared a YouTube video outlining the “10 Best Places to Visit in the UK in 2026” – and Yorkshire came in at number one for various reasons.

Explaining the criteria before revealing the full list, Cara said: “I spent over a year travelling throughout the United Kingdom over the course of the last few years exploring England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

“Today I’m counting down the 10 best places to visit across the entire UK, the most stunning landscapes, the coolest cities, and the most unforgettable experiences.”

She described it as the ultimate guide to the best destinations across the four countries before Jeremy explained why Yorkshire was the number one spot to visit.

He said Yorkshire offered something for everyone whether you were a seasoned traveller or local, and he then mentioned York, which he described as the quintessential medieval English city.

Jeremy, who admitted that it felt like cheating by putting Yorkshire number one given it is divided into four counties, was blown away by the stunning York Minster building and he said walking the streets felt like going back in time.

The couple went on to praise Leeds, Knaresborough, Scarboroughy, Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Robin Hood’s Bay.

Cara, who picked out the remarkable Yorkshire coast, continued: “But Yorkshire is so much more than just York. Want to explore a charming town? Knaresborough is an easy day trip with a stunning viaduct and a lovely riverside.”

However, she was particularly fond of Leeds, describing it as “genuinely one of the coolest cities in all of the UK”.

She pointed out the incredible museums, like the free Royal Armouries Museum, and said there were memorable coffee shops in a place that had a “really cool urban vibe”.

Jeremy added that the fish and chips in Yorkshire was incomparable to anywhere else in the UK – and he pointed out standout locations in Whitby like Royal Fisheries, Trenchers and Magpie.

Cara added that other seaside towns like Scarborough, Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Robin Hood’s Bay also offered distinct charms.

And finishing the video, which you can watch in full here, Cara said: “This is my plea to you; if you’re travelling to the UK and you only have London or Edinburgh on your itinerary, add Yorkshire or anyone one of the places on this list for a completely different UK experience.

“Yorkshire especially is accessible, diverse, and absolutely unforgettable. You will not regret adding any of these places to your itinerary.”

Underneath the video, one person replied: “As a Yorkshire woman, I was very happy to see where your number one choice was.”

A second said: “Must admit I was expecting London. As a Yorkshire born and bred man, I was pleasantly surprised.”
