All The Best Vintage Looks To Have Ever Graced The Fashion Awards

The British Fashion Awards – renamed just The Fashion Awards in 2016 – have brought us some memorable fashion moments over the years, from Princess Diana’s Catherine Walker “Elvis” dress and Meghan Markle’s custom velvet Givenchy gown, to Kate Moss’s fluffy white coat and miniskirt combo, and Naomi Campbell’s checked Vivienne Westwood get-up and towering thigh-high platforms from the ’90s.

More recently, many of The Fashion Awards’s stand-out red-carpet looks have come via the archives. Take Rihanna’s teal Christian Lacroix minidress from autumn/winter 2002, which stole the show at last year’s ceremony when paired with an enormous matching hat; or Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow’s floor-sweeping gowns from the Valentino vaults, which they wore to honour Mr Valentino at the 2023 edition.

While archival looks have become an increasingly popular choice on the red carpet in recent times, vintage is, of course, not a new phenomenon, with the likes of Kate Moss, Natalia Vodianova and Adwoa Aboah among the early adopters for this specific occasion.

Ahead of the 2025 edition, take a look back at all the best vintage dresses to have graced The Fashion Awards red carpet to date.
