The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind covering the whole of Devon from 3pm today (Friday 3rd October) until 11.59pm on Saturday 4 October, as Storm Amy sweeps across the UK.
While the South West is not expected to bear the brunt of the storm, forecasters say Devon will still face disruptive conditions.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “While Storm Amy’s more severe impacts will be felt in Scotland and Northern Ireland, Devon will see some associated impacts, which has resulted in a Yellow wind warning being in force for much of Saturday.
“For Devon, the strongest winds are likely on Saturday morning, with exposed coasts possibly seeing gusts of around 50mph. Winds will gradually ease through the day as Storm Amy pulls away to the northeast of Scotland. There could also be some blustery showers for some.”
The Met Office has issued a warning that raises the possibility of travel disruption, difficult driving conditions on exposed routes, and potential delays to public transport.
Coastal communities are being urged to take extra care, with large waves and flying debris possible in some areas.
Falling branches could damage electricity lines, leading to power cuts, and mobile phone signals may be affected in parts of the city and surrounding rural areas.
Devon County Council has advised motorists to allow extra time for journeys and to avoid parking vehicles under trees where branches could be brought down by gusts.
The unsettled conditions are expected to ease gradually through Saturday evening, but residents are being reminded to keep an eye on updates from the Met Office as the storm progresses.
