Akasa Air has significantly enhanced its ‘Pets on Akasa’ service by doubling the in-cabin pet limit, allowing passengers to travel with two pets instead of one. This move comes as part of the airline’s commitment to meeting the growing needs of pet owners, offering them greater flexibility and convenience when flying with their furry companions. With this upgrade, Akasa Air continues to prioritize customer satisfaction and comfort, ensuring pet owners can travel with ease while enjoying a range of added benefits and services designed to enhance the overall experience.

Akasa Air has introduced notable enhancements to its widely popular pet travel service, ‘Pets on Akasa’, offering passengers greater convenience when flying with their pets. The airline now allows travelers to bring two pets in the cabin, expanding the previous limit of one. This change aligns with Akasa’s continuous effort to accommodate pet owners and their evolving needs, while ensuring a comfortable flying experience for both passengers and their pets.

Launched in November 2022, the ‘Pets on Akasa’ service has swiftly gained popularity, with more than 8,500 pets transported across the country. The service has been expanded to offer even more options, including adjustments based on valuable customer feedback. In May 2024, Akasa Air introduced several significant updates, such as increasing the maximum weight allowance for pets in the cabin to 10 kg. Additionally, the validity of pet travel certificates has been extended to 15 days, simplifying the process for pet owners traveling with their furry companions.

The service currently operates in 24 major domestic cities, such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, allowing passengers nationwide to benefit from the enhanced pet travel offerings. These changes reflect the airline’s customer-first approach, demonstrating its commitment to meeting passenger demands and keeping pace with the growing trend of pet travel in the aviation industry.

Akasa’s ‘Pets on Akasa’ service goes beyond just accommodating pets in the cabin—it is designed to deliver a premium travel experience for both pets and their owners. The airline offers a range of complimentary services to passengers traveling with pets, including a pre-booked window seat, priority check-in, priority baggage delivery, and Board First services. These value-added benefits contribute to a smooth and hassle-free journey, ensuring that pet owners and their pets receive the best treatment during their flights.

Furthermore, Akasa Air has invested in specialized training for its customer care team, airport staff, and in-flight personnel, focusing on the unique requirements of traveling with pets. This training equips the airline’s staff to deliver the highest standards of care, safety, and comfort to ensure a positive experience for pet passengers. The airline has committed to continuously improving its processes to ensure the well-being of the pets traveling with them.

In addition to its internal efforts, Akasa Air has partnered with Umeed for Animals Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Gurgaon that is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals. Through this collaboration, Akasa Air aims to implement best practices for animal welfare and comfort. This partnership helps strengthen the airline’s policies and processes, ensuring that pets enjoy the highest levels of care and safety while traveling.

The airline has also streamlined the booking process for pet travel. The booking window has been reduced to just 24 hours before departure, a significant reduction from the previous 48-hour window. This change allows last-minute travelers more flexibility and makes it easier for them to secure a spot for their pets on their flights.

Akasa Air’s efforts to enhance its pet travel service come as part of a broader commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. The airline currently serves over 21 million passengers annually, operating a modern fleet of 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The fleet is designed with fuel efficiency in mind, reducing carbon emissions and providing a quieter, more comfortable cabin environment for all passengers, including pets. Additionally, the airline has 226 aircraft on order, positioning itself as a leader in the industry with a focus on sustainability and operational excellence.

By continuously improving its pet travel services, Akasa Air is setting a new standard in the airline industry for accommodating pets. These updates reflect the airline’s dedication to meeting the diverse needs of its passengers while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience, safety, and environmental responsibility. Whether it’s offering more flexibility in pet travel arrangements, enhancing passenger benefits, or providing expert care throughout the journey, Akasa Air’s ‘Pets on Akasa’ service continues to raise the bar for pet-friendly flying.
