Francesco Acerbi’s once-untouchable status at Inter is beginning to fade. Despite a solid display against his former club Lazio, the veteran centre-back has started just one of the last four games, and his future at San Siro is suddenly in question.
According to Tuttosport, via TuttoMercatoWeb, the defender, who had been hoping for a two-year contract extension after scoring against Barcelona, is no longer seen as indispensable by Cristian Chivu.

Acerbi considering his options as he dreams of World Cup
The recent rotation has not gone down well with Acerbi, who is now considering his options ahead of the January transfer window.
The Nerazzurri would not stand in his way if an appealing offer arrived, potentially bringing forward a summer departure that already seemed inevitable.

Acerbi, meanwhile, has another motivation in mind: a potential reunion with Rino Gattuso’s Italy.
The centre-back is said to be dreaming of one final call-up for the 2026 World Cup, where his leadership and experience could prove invaluable to the Azzurri dressing room.
