Abilene man dies in city’s third motorcycle fatality this year

An Abilene man died early Monday morning after being critically injured in a collision involving a motorcycle, according to a police media release.

Police responded to the accident that occurred in the 4400 block of Buffalo Gap Road, south of the Mall of Abilene, on Sunday around 2 p.m.

The crash occurred when a 71-year-old woman driving a 2013 Ford Edge attempted to turn left into a private drive on the west side of the roadway, the press release said.

The 37-year-old motorcyclist, later identified as Joshuia Harness, was traveling south and collided with the Ford Edge, which caused him to sustain life-threatening injuries.

He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in critical condition and was later care-flighted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning, the media release said.
