Actress Maggie Q is reminding fans and followers of how important self-care and wellness are. Q, 45, shared a picture of herself wearing two-piece purple workout gear, climbing the stairs with her dog against a lush green background. “Before meditation walk, green juice. Choose your health over absolutely ANYTHING. ❤️🪻💃🏻🥬,” she captioned the post. Q is passionate about nourishing herself inside and out—here’s how Q is living her best life.
Plant-Based Diet
Q enjoys a plant-based diet but doesn’t call herself a vegan. “I gave up meat 20 years ago,” she told The Beet. “When I did it, my convictions were rooted in animal cruelty and environmental impact. That’s why I gave up meat. Because it wasn’t about me and vanity and health, my convictions were very strong—so I never fell off the wagon. I don’t [call myself vegan], because it has become a weird, negative term and people feel very judged by it. So I like plant-based better because it’s friendlier: It’s inclusive. You can’t judge people. They have to be where they’re at, and you have to accept them for where they are.”
Holistic Health
Q follows a lifestyle that makes her look and feel her best. “When I was younger, I believed one type of diet was right for everyone. That ‘healthy’ was under a small umbrella of choices,” she told Forbes. “As I mature and study more about our biological makeup and how different we all are, I realize there is no such thing. I listen to my body, and I lead it in the direction that feels good and give it what it asks for.”
Physical Roles
Q says her role in Nikita was her favorite for the physicality. “My last series, Nikita, allowed me four years of different choreography in the fight world,” she told the Tory Daily blog. “It was my favorite journey. It was my vehicle and so I was very involved from beginning to end, especially with the physicality. We worked SO hard. I’m proud of it, because I grew.”
Don’t Tell Her To Eat A Cheeseburger

Q has dealt with body-shaming over her lean physique. “I’ve raised my metabolism by being an active person, so I need more food than most people,” she told Women’s Health. “But people tell me that I don’t eat actual food. Like, how do you think I function? I don’t put anything into my body but the air that I breathe? I can’t tell you the number of people who’ve said I need to eat a cheeseburger. I’m like, really? I need to eat a cheeseburger? You can eat a cheeseburger and I’ll be okay over here.”
Body is a Temple
Q believes living a healthy lifestyle is the ultimate form of self-care. “No matter what shape or size we are, if you are doing your best to care for your temple, that’s beauty,” she told Women’s Health. “If you’re healthy and have a working body, how much bigger of a gift could you have? There are so many people who don’t even have that. I think we forget that, but it’s miraculous that our bodies can stand, and walk anywhere, and create art, and hold your lover’s hand.”
