Jeff Bezos donates to Coalition for the Homeless in Central Florida

The work to help people experiencing homelessness is complicated and costly – which is why the Coalition for the Homeless was pleased to receive a $5 million grant from a foundation led by Jeff Bezos. “Through this grant which we are honored and thrilled to have received, we’re going to be able to help even more families,” said Trinette Nation with the coalition. And helping is what the coalition is all about. But sheltering individuals and families requires hard-to-nail-down financial resources.”We are in the middle of an affordable housing crisis,” Nation said, “and being able to provide these programs and services it’s huge for this community.” The grant allows the coalition to expand its ability to shelter and provide services, especially with its space for homeless families.”Help those individuals find a place to stay, as opposed to being unsheltered, at the end of the day, we want no child on the street, unsheltered,” Nation said. The grant will go a long way to provide services not just on campus, but in the community.”Have conversations about ‘how did you get in this situation? What can we do to help you find, safe, stable housing?'” Nation said. The coalition plans to expand its downtown campus. In all, the Bezos Day One fund sent $110 million to 40 organizations in 23 states.
