BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With Thanksgiving right around the corner, many families are already getting ready for the big dinner, so we’ve got some tips on how to make sure you’re staying healthy while still enjoying your meal.
Being mindful around this time of year is a definite must. Make sure to not spread out your Thanksgiving leftovers all the way until Christmas.
We spoke to Sarah Widener with Med Center Health, who says especially with Thanksgiving on the horizon, to have a plan in place for how to work off that dinner.
“You don’t have to overindulge, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing… and if you do overindulge, okay… go take a walk after dinner. Just make sure that when you get up Friday or you get up after that Thanksgiving celebration the next day, that you go back to those healthy habits again. It’s not that one meal or that one day that does it for us,” she says.
Widener also says to make sure you’re sleeping well, getting physical activity and managing any stress you may have going into the holiday season.
