CMA CGM has announced new Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) for cargo moving from China to East African destinations.
The surcharge applies to all cargo and takes effect from 7 June and 15 June 2026, depending on origin and destination.
For cargo moving from North and Central China to Mombasa, Kenya, CMA CGM will apply a surcharge of US$200 per TEU from 7 June and again from 15 June.
Cargo from North and Central China to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, will face a surcharge of US$400 per TEU from 15 June.
Shipments from North and Central China to Mogadishu, Somalia, will also face a US$400 per TEU surcharge from 7 June.
For South China exports to Dar es Salaam, the carrier introduced a lower surcharge of US$100 per TEU effective 15 June.
The latest increases add further pricing pressure on Africa trades as carriers continue implementing surcharges ahead of the peak shipping season.
