Odin was born in the Netherlands, and at the age of three, he came to the U.S. to be Deputy Leming’s patrol partner, according to SCSO. Odin protected Deputy Leming and the citizens of Sutter County from October 2016 to October 2023, when he retired alongside Leming.
“During Odin’s career, he was credited with multiple apprehensions and even more surrenders,” SCSO said. “Odin located stolen property and multiple firearms during his career.”
SCSO added, “Odin loved to meet the citizens of Sutter County and swim in whatever body of water he could find. Odin competed in several Police K9 Trials over the years, winning multiple awards. He was awarded the decoy’s choice award on three occasions.
During retirement, he reportedly enjoyed camping, swimming, ear scratches, and just hanging out with family.
Odin died on Dec. 5.
