Grand Designs revisits peaceful barn in Sevenoaks 6 years on

The Channel 4 show is now entering its 26th series, with previous episodes seeing everything from giant curved glass homes to mansions built out of clay and former water towers.

Now, more keen builders are ready to take on the task, as Kevin travels around the UK to see the new builds in Grand Designs.

The first episode of the new series saw artist Sarah with a radical super-sustainable home that combined living quarters with a studio and an art gallery.

Sarah was followed by couple, Pete and Aey, who constructed a factory-built house in rural West Sussex.

Marcus and Abi followed the pair with a “luxurious off-grid family home” in Pembrokeshire.

Kevin then met Pep and Malene, who built a modern Viking hall in the Surrey Hills.

Piers and Emma followed with the UK’s first castle in 100 years with their own modern take on the structure.

Last week, Kevin revisited Stuart and Rosie from the Wirral, who in 2016 began building their ultra-modern dream home.

In 2019, Kevin met Greg and Georgie, who had plans to convert a dilapidated 35-year-old barn in Georgie’s parents’ garden in Sevenoaks.

The pair hope to create a “peaceful safe haven”, however, things took a turn for the two when they discovered the existing buildings’ rotten structure.

The couple planned to build a new two-storey internal steel frame, all while recycling as much as possible to stretch their £250,000 budget.

Now, six years on, Kevin is back to see if the couple were able to complete their dream home.

Grand Designs airs on Channel 4 on Wednesday evenings at 8pm, and is available to stream on All4.
