Nereida Estrada Jimenez says she is closing her Quinceañera’s Fashion Boutique in Marshall after eight years in business.

The store sells formal wear for special occasions such as quinceañeras, weddings, baptisms and more.

Jimenez said her decision to close has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but with the building she rents now listed for sale, it was a decision she needed to make.

“This is hard for me, because this is something I love doing,” Estrada Jimenez said about closing her store.

She wants to thank her customers and the community for welcoming her as a business owner.

“I’m forever grateful to my husband for believing in me and supporting me always, for making my dream come true,” Estrada Jimenez said.

While she said she is sad about closing, she’s staying optimistic as she looks forward to having more time with her family.

“The reason I feel excited is because I believe in God and I believe that everything that He puts on your path is for something better, even though in the moment you don’t understand it,” Estrada Jimenez said.

The building at 200 E. Grand Ave is listed by Clay Allen Real Estate for $175,000.

Though Estrada Jimenez was given the option to buy the building and remain open, it was a financial decision that wasn’t possible.

“I’ve checked other (buildings to rent) because like I’ve mentioned, this is something that I enjoy doing … but buying the building is expensive, not super expensive, but I also have to keep my family in mind,” she said.

Estrada Jimenez said she hopes to sell her inventory by the end of the year but will remain open until everything is sold.

“I’m thinking about starting to put items at half price so that people can buy two dresses for the price of one,” she said.

Estrada Jimenez said she wants customers to know she is grateful to them.

“I am infinitely grateful (for my customers), and with the majority of them there was a bond of friendship created, and it wasn’t just that they were coming to buy something, but rather like they were coming to visit me as a friend,” she said.

Estrada Jimenez also wants to thank the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce for bringing visibility to her business, specifically Dinora Harris, who previously worked at the chamber and told Estrada Jimenez about its services. She also wants to thank the Marshall Main Street program for always including her and encouraging her to take part in downtown events.

Estrada Jimenez said she never believed she would have this much support when she first opened and she is grateful for the welcoming business community over the years.

“When you start a business or a project, you do it with fear and you don’t know what the future will hold,” she said. “And honestly, I didn’t expect to be in the business for so many years, and it was thanks to (my supporters), thanks to the fact that they trusted me, and that also made me feel confident in myself that my dream or my idea wasn’t a bad idea.”

Quinceañera’s Fashion Boutique is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
