Hong Kong Airlines and Etihad Airways are set to elevate the travel experience to new heights with the launch of their first-ever reciprocal loyalty programme and the renewal of their codeshare partnership. This significant collaboration will provide passengers with more seamless travel options, allowing them to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles across both airlines. The renewed partnership enhances connectivity between key destinations in Asia, the Middle East, and beyond, offering travellers greater flexibility and access to an expanded network.
Hong Kong Airlines and Etihad Airways have reestablished their codeshare partnership, marking a significant milestone with the launch of their first-ever reciprocal loyalty programme agreement. This strengthened collaboration provides passengers with a wider array of travel options and greater flexibility.
The partnership officially commenced with the first codeshare flight between Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong, which took off on 3 November. By combining the network strengths of both airlines, they offer smoother connections, enabling travellers to seamlessly connect through Hong Kong on Hong Kong Airlines to key destinations in Asia, or through Abu Dhabi on Etihad Airways to various cities in the Middle East and beyond. This enhances travel links between Asia, the Middle East, and international markets.
As part of the new codeshare agreement, Hong Kong Airlines will place its “HX” code on Etihad Airways flights between Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi, while Etihad Airways will place its “EY” code on Hong Kong Airlines-operated flights between Hong Kong and Japan. This covers popular destinations such as Fukuoka, Sapporo, Okinawa, and Osaka, providing more options for leisure travellers.
Additionally, both airlines will roll out a reciprocal loyalty programme, enabling members of Hong Kong Airlines’ Fortune Wings Club (FWC) and Etihad Airways’ Etihad Guest to earn and redeem miles across both networks. FWC members flying with Etihad Airways between Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi will earn Fortune Wings Club points, while Etihad Guest members travelling on selected Hong Kong Airlines flights will collect Etihad Guest miles and tier miles.
Louis Li, Executive Vice President of Hong Kong Airlines, said: “This partnership marks an important milestone in Hong Kong Airlines’ return to the international market. The expansion of our codeshare and the launch of a reciprocal loyalty programme not only benefit travellers from both airlines but also lay the foundation for deepened commercial collaboration.”

In recent years, we have observed growing travel demand from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region to Hong Kong and other major Asian cities. We are confident that this renewed partnership will create significant commercial opportunities for both airlines and deliver greater convenience and value to business and leisure travellers alike.”
